Lower School
Each child in Lower School participates in a large group performance
or in a classroom play each year. The individual classroom
productions are curriculum-based and are written by the drama
teacher, to reflect the needs and talents of the children.
The full grade-level performances are a culmination of the
efforts of the art, dance, and music teachers. Third and fourth
graders are introduced to a dance class.
Middle School
Drama/dance courses are offered to fifth and sixth graders.
The focus is on improvisation, character development, creative
scene work, and scene-writing techniques. All Middle Schoolers
may audition for two plays presented in the fall and spring.
In addition, students may join the middle school dance ensemble,
an extracurricular performing group.
Upper School
Drama and dance courses are offered to all Upper Schoolers.
Classes include drama production, theater lab, an actor's
workshop, and three various dance courses. Qualified students
may join the International Thespian Society. In addition the
Upper School puts on several performances each year: one-act
play, two mainstage productions, including a musical, and
a student-directed play. Each year, our students participate
in the North Carolina Theatre Conference Regional Play Festival.
