Facilities
Upper School Fine Arts Center
In August 2004, the new Upper School Fine Arts Center opened its doors.
With its striking and inspirational design the building is a work of art in
itself. Its 45,730-square-foot design gives the fine arts and humanities programs
the space they need to further develop and improve their curriculum. The new facility
features four visual arts studios, a photography studio with two darkrooms equipped for
film and print development, and a ceramics/3-D studio. It offers a drama classroom/black box theater
with two catwalks, and a two-story dance studio with a sprung floor. The building also includes
a music suite with acoustically sound instrumental and choral classrooms, six individual practice
rooms, and four rooms for group/section rehearsals. Finally, it houses five humanities classrooms,
a computer graphics classroom, a student publication center, a multi-function seminar classroom, and
a student art gallery.
Gorelick Family Theater
The renovated Gorelick Family Theater seats 400,
and provides a wonderful home for more than 70 play performances,
special events, and assemblies each year for students in all
three divisions. It also features state-of-the art sound and
lighting systems, a proscenium and stage, additional storage
for theater props and sets, additional seating, and new acoustical
treatments for the walls and ceiling. In addition, the building
holds two child-scaled classrooms for Lower School students, a small gallery, a dance room, and Lower School music rooms.
